What is vodka?

Vodka is a clear, colorless, and nearly odorless spirit that originally comes from Russia or Poland. The drink is distilled from grains such as wheat, barley, rye or potatoes.

How is vodka made?

The grain is germinated, which creates fermentable sugar from the starch.
This is fermented with water to a slightly alcoholic liquid, after which the liquid is distilled.
The product is then often stored in tanks with charcoal, which absorbs all odours and impurities.
The vodka is filtered and bottled.

How much alcohol is in vodka?

Vodka is distilled to a maximum of 95% and diluted with water.
The alcohol percentage is then between 35% and 70%. In the trade, a percentage of around 40% is often used à 45%.

There is no difference between vodka and vodka.
Wodka or vodka is the Russian word for "little water".
