Alcohol

Alcohol is a colourless, natural liquid that is created by fermenting fruit sugars or sugars from grains. Alcoholic beverages have been made in this way for years. The amount of alcohol that is created during fermentation depends on the amount of sugars available. When the alcohol percentage has reached approximately 15%, fermentation stops automatically.

Low-alcoholic beverages:
Beverages with an alcohol percentage between 1 and 15% are low-alcoholic beverages. For example, beer, wine, premix drinks.

Strong (distilled) drinks:
Weak alcoholic drinks can be used to make drinks with higher alcohol percentages, such as spirits of more than 15%. This is done using a method called distillation. The alcoholic drink is heated and the vapours are then cooled considerably. This results in a distilled drink. Examples of spirits include: vodka, whisky, gin and liqueurs.

Alcohol = alcohol = alcohol
Every alcoholic drink has its own standard glass. The stronger the alcoholic drink, the smaller the glass. This means that a standard glass of beer, wine or gin contains the same amount of alcohol. For more information about standard glasses, go to genietmaardrinkmetmate.nl
