What is Sekt?

Sekt is the German name for sparkling wine. In the past, the grapes for sekt were often imported from abroad. Today, these grapes for "Deutscher Sekt" may only come from German vineyards. Several grape varieties are suitable for the vinification of Sekt. However, the Riesling grape is the most popular among the upper class.
