Drambuie

What is Drambuie?

Drambuie is a brand of liqueur made from Scotch whisky, herbs and heather honey. On the Scottish island of Skye, Drambuie has been made according to a secret recipe since 1746. A number of whiskies used for Drambuie are between 15 and 17 years old.
Drambuie is also often pronounced in French as dram bwie. This is incorrect because Drambuie does not originally come from France but from Scotland. The name probably comes from the Scottish Gaelic dram buidhe, which means "yellow drink". However, other sources mention an dram buidheach: "a drink that satisfies".

How much alcohol is in Drambuie?

Drambuie contains approximately 40 percent alcohol.
