Weinbrand

What is Weinbrand

Weinbrand is a wine distillate obtained by distilling white wine. In Germany, a wine distillate may only be called "weinbrand" if it meets a number of strict requirements. For example, the wine used for the production of weinbrand may only be made from a certain number of grapes. In addition, there are requirements regarding storage and production, which must take place in Germany for at least 85%. The maturation period in oak barrels for weinbrand must be at least six months. For a barrel capacity of more than 1000 litres, this is even twelve months.

How much alcohol does Weinbrand contain?

Weinbrand has an alcohol content of at least 36%.
