Absinthe is marketed with a varying alcohol percentage.
The usual Absinthe contains 40% alcohol, but there are also bottles of more than 60 to 70% available.
How is Absinthe drunk?
Absinthe is sometimes drunk pure, but it is customary to add water and sugar according to a fixed ritual.
An absinthe spoon with a sugar cube is placed on the glass. Then ice cold water is poured over the sugar cube and finally it is stirred well.
In a modern variation of the absinthe ritual, the sugar cube is flambéed with absinthe.
