What is Kirsch?

Kirsch is an alcoholic drink made by distilling fermented cherry juice.
It is used in cocktails and often in cheese fondue.
Kirsch is also a good flavouring in cakes and pastries (such as the famous Black Forest cherry cake), as well as in salads of fresh fruit.
