Cocktail recept : Sazerac

Preparation:

Something that distinguishes the Sazerac from other cocktails is rubbing the glass with absinthe or pastis. Absinthe was originally used, but has become difficult to obtain for a while, so pastis is also used. Other substitutes can be Pernod, Herbsaint, Ricard, Absente or green Chartreuse. The drink of choice is therefore dripped over the inside of an old-fashioned glass, and if a layer remains in the glass, it is removed. You can then use this glass to drink from or to serve.
In the past, a sugar cube that had been slightly imitated was placed on the bottom, but nowadays people more often use regular simple syrup.
The original Sazerac had a grape brandy base. Nowadays, however, rye whiskey is used more often. Bourbon can also be a substitute.
Then a few drops to a few dashes of Peychaud's bitter and Angostura bitter are added.
The ingredients are placed in a glass filled with ice and stirred until it is ice cold.
Garnish the glass with a piece of lemon peel.
